MK Party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu is said to be on his way out after months of factional divisions.

Rumours of Shivambu's ousting have been circulating for months with some predicting that his fallout with Zuma's daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, was the final nail in his coffin.

Insiders are speculating that the MK Party's official's meeting that ran until Tuesday afternoon had possibly took a decision to let go of Shivambu.

Shivambu was the fifth secretary-general appointed by party leader Jacob Zuma since MK Party was established in December 2023. He was appointed as secretary-general in November 2024 after the resignation of Sifiso Mahlangu.

Shivambu stunned many when he left the EFF to join the MK Party in August 2024 after the May 29 elections. He was first appointed as head of organising, with powers similar to those of the secretary-general.

Shivambu, however, fell out with some of Zuma's closest allies including his daughter Zuma-Sambudla, who turned to social media using profanities against him.

Calls for his resignation were also captured on social media posts with some MK Party members blaming Shivambu for divisions in the party.

Zuma-Sambudla claimed on social media Shivambu was the “worst thing that has happened” to the party.

Her social media rant followed a letter from the KwaZulu-Natal region, circulated on social media, to Zuma-Sambudla complaining about Shivambu.

The letter detailed how Shivambu allegedly showed a lack of understanding and competence in key areas and how he was said to engage in unprofessional conduct, including not paying constituency staff and rent for buildings used as offices in the province.
