1996 — Lance Klusener hits an unbeaten 88 and Andrew Hudson 68, as the Proteas score 239/2 to beat Australia by eight wickets in Guwahati and maintain their unbeaten run in the three-nation tournament.

1998 — Jacques Kallis takes five wickets to help the Proteas beat West Indies and lift the Champions Trophy — to date the only ICC tournament won by SA. Skipper Hansie Cronje won the toss and put the West Indians in to bat first. Opener Philo Wallace made 103 and Carl Hooper 49 before the side was dismissed for 245. Cronje top-scored for SA with 61 not out as the Proteas wrapped up the game with 18 balls remaining.

1999 — Jacques Kallis takes four wickets as the Proteas bowl out Zimbabwe for 212 to win a one-off Test in Bloemfontein by an innings and 13 runs. Kallis, who took three wickets in Zimbabwe’s first innings, scored 64 in SA’s knock of 417, with Jonty Rhodes making 70 and captain Hansie Cronje also 64. Shaun Pollock took 5/39 in Zimbabwe’s first innings. It was the first cricket Test played in Bloemfontein.

2000 — Jacques Kallis scores an unbeaten 50 as the Proteas chase down a revised target of 153 to beat New Zealand in the rain-shortened fifth ODI at Kingsmead in Durban. SA led the series 4-0.

2003 — Phillip Ndou takes on Floyd Mayweather in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the WBC lightweight title, but he is no match for the American and his bid ends in the seventh round when his corner throws in the towel.

2003 — The Springboks score eight tries as they smash Samoa 60-10 in Brisbane in their final group match of the World Cup. Backs scored six of the tries, including replacments Neil de Kock and Jaque Fourie.

2013 — The Proteas batting collapses as they are beaten by 66 runs in the second ODI against Pakistan in Dubai. Ryan McLaren had taken 4/34 and Morne Morkel 3/38 while bowling out the home side for 209. But SA’s batsmen never got going, with McLaren top-scoring with 29 not out. The win levelled the five-match series at 1-1.
