Stocks rose yesterday, with all 10 S&P sectors trading higher, after Fed chairman Ben Bernanke suggested the US central bank would continue supportive monetary policies.

"We are clearly addicted to this highly liquid market, and Bernanke has reassured that it will stay this way," said a market strategist.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 160.90 points, or 1.23%, to 13241,63. The S&P 500 gained 19.40 points, or 1.39%, to 1416.51. The Nasdaq Composite added 54.65 points, or 1.78%, to close at 3122.57. -
