The Guardian newspaper in London dumped the term "climate change" from its columns two weeks ago, opting instead for the much stronger language of a "climate emergency" or the "climate crisis".

Explaining the newspaper's decision to update its style guideline, Guardian editor-in-chief Katharine Viner said that the term "climate change" seemed to be "rather passive and gentle" when science experts from the UN and international meteorological agencies were now talking about a potential "catastrophe for humanity" if global carbon emissions are not cut in half within the next 11 years...
