It's not often that this column is about sport, but I found myself on a flight back from London with a rather subdued group of Proteas players headed home from the Cricket World Cup and was prompted to look into the economics of cricket.

It's a story of domestic dysfunction amid growing global inequality between the world's rich cricket countries - England, Australia and particularly India - and the poorer ones...
