At a recent event, the lovely actress was reduced to tears when the media bombarded her with questions regarding her relationship with the hunky actor. Khan, on the other hand, while promoting his next release,Dabangg, has admitted he is single.
- THIS week's new release is the mighty We Are Family with Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Ramphal. While the movie is set to become a rage at the box office, the two leading ladies are, sadly, unavailable to promote it. Kajol is in the last stage of her pregnancy and Kareena, who has just come back from a holiday, is working on Agent Vinod with Saif Ali Khan.
AFTER working together in movies such as Cash, Dus and Fight Club, Dia Mirza has joined forces with Zayed Khan to start their own production company. Their first project, which will be a romantic drama, will have them in the leading roles and will be directed by Dia's boyfriend, Sahil Sangha, who previously assisted Nikhil Adhvani on Salaam-E-Ishq.
oSEEMS like the friendship between the great Sridevi and Asin may be hitting troubled waters. Insiders in the industry claim the Ghajini actress has turned down a role offered by Sridevi and husband Boney Kapoor. Asin, who is working on Ready with Salman Khan, also recently turned down Vipul Shah.
- EARLY indications are that Raj- nikanth's Endhiran, the biggest film for 2010, will not make its projected release date of September 24. The computer-graphics team is still working on the film and AR Rahman is not even halfway through the background score. Indications are that he is unlikely to finish before the end of September. Sun Pictures, the producers, have gone the cautious route in not committing themselves to a fixed date but they did go on a selling spree, selling the rights to neighbouring states for record sums. Good news for South Africans is that the film will be released on the big screen locally.
KAMALHASSAN will make a guest appearance in the Malayalam film Four Friends in which he will play himself. The film stars Jayaram, one of Kamalhassan's close friends. Kamal has completed the shooting for his scenes but the rest of the film is still to be canned. He will also dub for himself in Malayalam. Meanwhile, work on his latest Tamil film, Manmadhan Ambu, with co-stars Trisha and R Madhavan, is proceeding at a brisk pace.
- THE arrest of two Hyderabad-based youths and a Nigerian national for dealing in cocaine have set rumours abuzz. Firstly, because the youths in question are the brothers of Telugu actor Ravi Theja. Secondly, when the police confiscated the Nigerian's cellphone, they found numerous calls made to many well-known people in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. At the top of the list of people often called and recently called was actress Trisha. Also on the list were actresses Char- mee (Laadam) and Kaamna (Macha- kaaran). While the other two actresses have disappeared from the public eye, Trisha has warned that she will take legal action against any publication that makes allegations about her without proof. The veracity or otherwise of these reports will soon surface and it is hoped that the findings will be made public.
IT WAS a novel concept when the stars of the 1980s first got together in 2009 for a reunion. Last week, a similar party was held at a private residence in Chennai. It was arranged by Lissy Priyadharshan and Suhasini Manirathinam and was open only to those actors and actresses who had shared the lead role in films during the 1980s. They all had to come without their spouses. Sarathkumar and Radhika were both there because of their respective achievements during the 1980s. Among the 27 people present were Rajnikanth, Kushbu, Arjun, Prabhu, Karthik, Mohan, Suresh, Suman, Prathab Pothan, Revathy, Ramya Krishnan, Radha, Ambiha and Nadhiya. The organisers plan to make this an annual event.
- A YEAR after Kamalhassan, another actor has completed 50 years in Tamil cinema. Vijayakumar, the actor who celebrated his 63rd birthday last Sunday, also marked the occasion as his golden year in cinema. Vijayakumar started his career as a child artist in the 1961 film Sri Valli and has the distinction of acting with most of the top actors since the. The impressive list of actors include Sivaji Ganesan, MGR, Rajnikanth, Kamalhassan, Sivakumar, Prabhu, Karthik, Surya and Vikram. He was married to Muthukannu but later married actress Manjulla. Three of his four daughters have acted in films and his son, Arun Vijay, is now seeing a climb in his career.
