''It doesn't have to be expensive to be good," says South African beauty queen Cindy Nel, the marketing manager of Cosmetix, a company that imports top make-up ranges from Europe.

Nel recently launched the latest make-up brand under the Cosmetix banner, Catrice.

With an average price of R50 for a quality product that meets all criteria, from pigment colour to variety and packaging, South Africans are starting to understand that buying make-up that looks and feels amazing doesn't have to break the bank.

Catrice constantly develops colours and looks that interpret the latest trends. The best part is that you can play around with lots of different looks because they're all affordable.

Nel says the quality of the product has priority: ''There is not a single product in the range that we are not convinced of."

The products are not tested on animals.

  • The Catrice range is available from Dischem outlets countrywide
