Divas of Music and Dance

Johannesburg-based dance company Mzansi Productions brings its mix of classical ballet and contemporary dance to Durban. Songs made famous by divas such as Tina Turner, Celine Dion and Rihanna provide the music. Mari-Louise Basson is responsible for the innovative choreography. -Shelley Seid

ABOUT "the historical baggage intrinsically tied to being Afrikaans", this exhibition, curated by gallery owner Teresa Lizamore, features the work of 10 South African artists. It deserves to be expanded. Fascinating stuff. - Gillian Anstey

Local funny bones Alan Committie, Shimmy Isaacs, Eugene Khoza and Carl Wastie are joined by UK comedy pianist Kev Orkian, Korean quick-change artist Miss Ro, Kalki the Hula Girl and face artist Sam Wills from Australia, and the Full House duo from Switzerland. Acts include musical acrobatics and comic cabaret, and the festival promises plenty of laughs. - Karen Rutter
