It seems that the all-year-round "bikini weather" is inspiring Durbanites to have more sex than people living in other South African cities.

On the other hand, Cape Town and Johannesburg lead the stakes when it comes to women who have had the most sexual partners.

Johannesburg, at 25%, also has more "single hearts" than other major cities.

These are the saucy results contained in the latest Men's Health sex survey, in which 1257 women were polled about their bedroom secrets.

The annual survey - the full results of which will be available in the June 25 edition of the magazine - asked women a range of explicit questions on foreplay, cheating, promiscuity, watching porn and masturbation.

The survey found that Durbanites were having more sex than anyone else in the country, at an average of 2.3 romps a week.

Says Men's Health of Durban's healthy libido: "Almost 30% of the Durbs dames rate their sex lives as great - unlike only 21% in Joburg."

Cape Town and Pretoria follow with two romps a week.

The poll attributes Durban's high sex drive to the "perpetual bikini weather, because Durban ladies come out tops in body confidence too, with a quarter reporting they are very comfortable with their bodies."

In other findings, 41% of women polled admitted to infidelity in the past - 30% with friends and 19% with total strangers.

Seven out of 10 women said they would not take back a cheating partner.

Pretoria emerged as the "land of mistrust", with 40% admitting they had cheated on their partners, followed by Cape Town at 37% and Johannesburg with 36%. Thirty-two percent of Durban women said they had strayed.

And 24% of the women polled in Cape Town and Johannesburg admitted to having had more than 10 sexual partners. Pretoria followed with 21% and Durban came in last with 16%.

When it came to kinky behaviour, 30% of women relished dressing up and doing role-play in the bedroom. A full 30% had fantasised about having sex with a stranger and 70% of women were open to filming themselves in bed.

When it came to threesomes, 64% of women polled turned up their noses. Forty-six percent admitted to having watched porn with their partners.

Kissing topped women's lists for foreplay at 70%.

In another survey, done with more than 1400 men for the Women's Health sex poll, 67% of men said they did not want to know how many men their partners had slept with.

The poll found that 38% of men noticed a woman's face or eyes first.

Men's Health editor Jason Brown said: "One of the most revealing facts we've learnt from the past year is that technology is playing an increasing role in meeting, flirting and courting. Social media is a hotbed of sexual activity, especially with apps like Tinder."

Questions posed in the survey - now in its fifth year - vary annually. In last year's Men's and Women's Health Survey, Upington in the Northern Cape emerged as South Africa's kinkiest city, with 60% of 3000 readers polled saying they used handcuffs and 30% that they enjoyed being tied up. Durban was the "friendliest city", with 58% of Durbanites admitting to having "friends with benefits".
