The South African women's national side secured a semifinal date in sensational style with an emphatic victory that booked a date against nemesis Nigeria on Wednesday.

Banyana Banyana (2) 5

Algeria (0) 1

There was a piece of history as Portia Modise became the first player, man or woman, to score 100 goals for her country. Banyana have it all to play for against the Super Falcons as teams finishing in the top three in Namibia will qualify for the 2015 Fifa Women's World Cup in Canada.

After losing 1-0 to Cameroon and drawing 1-1 with Ghana, Banyana saved their best performance of the tournament for when it was needed.

The Super Falcons were in attendance after strolling through Group A with 12 goals scored and two conceded. They witnessed a vastly improved South Africa who were far more direct and accurate.

As usual, Banyana did all the first-half attacking and with Algeria heavily reliant on Nahima Benziane, the burly forward needed to be shut out of the game.

Noko Matlou and Janine van Wyk took turns in keeping her quiet.

With Mamello Makhabane, South Africa's self-styled Andrea Pirlo, pulling the strings from midfield, aided by the industrious Mpumi Nyandeni, Algeria were on the back foot.

Sanah Mollo also started her first match of the tournament as the roving midfielder-cum-striker.

Banyana were able to coax a penalty as an Algerian defender handled in the box in the 19th minute, but Nyandeni's casual effort was saved by Kahina Takehit. Her defence consistently let her down as they were unable to cope with the incessant South African attacking.

Modise's final ball found Amanda Dlamini, who broke the deadlock.

Modise bundled in her 99th goal in the 41st minute.

Mollo made it 3-0 and Mamello Makhabane's fine free-kick shot the score to 4-0. Modise hammered home her 100th international goal to spark joyous celebrations by the South Africans in Namibia and back home.
