A study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine looked into what women consider to be a normal looking penis.

Men who have corrected hypospadias (a condition in which the opening of the urethra is on the underside of the penis) often consider their penises to look weird, so researchers decided to try and figure out what women consider "normal".

To do this they got 105 women together and showed them 10 photos of hypospadias-affected surgically repaired genital and 10 circumcised penises and asked them to fill out a questionnaire rating them.

Their research, which can be read in full on the Wiley Online Library, found the following:

  • Women like a good looking penis
  • The appearance of a man's pubic hair is more important than length or girth
  • Penile skin and girth are tied for third most important aspect.
  • How the glans looks came fifth
  • Length was a lowly sixth most important aspect
  • The scrotum came seventh
  • Women really don't care much about the position of the meatus, which came last at eighth.
