Mad over Star Wars? You can 3D print your own replica lightsaber (video)

Ever wanted a lightsaber all your own? Well if you have access to a 3D printer your dream of becoming a Jedi could finally become a reality.

Ultimaker, a 3D printing company, originally came up with a design for a Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber replica last year, but with the world bursting with excitement at the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we decided to take another look.

In a blogpost, designer Jacky Wan explains how he ended up creating two versions of his lightsaber; an easy to assemble/print 4 version and a 14-piece version that, while more laborious, has a more polished finish. He also gives printing instructions and a tutorial on how to paint the replica.

 

 

But if just having a goodlooking lightsaber is not enough for you Star Wars fans out there, you can always go a step further and build lightsabers that actually work. Wired.com has broken down some of the custom lightsabers you can actually duel with:
