The Barnyard Theatre Gateway celebrates 100 productions with a party that’ll take you back in time

Grab your denim jacket and scrunchy and get ready for 90s Mania running at The Barnyard Theatre Gateway from 8 March until 17 April. Celebrate the music of the ’90s as well as the theatre reaching an amazing milestone.

Your favourite songs

Many feel that the ’90s had a soundtrack that’ll last forever, and you can relive those fun and frivolous times with some foot-stomping tunes and an eclectic mix of everything that made you turn up the volume. An 11-member cast of singers, dancers and instrumentalists will enchant you with songs that’ll take you back to those school-disco days.

Keep your ears open for songs from Counting Crows, Nirvana, Eagle-Eye Cherry and, yes, even UB40. You’ll be amping up the girl power with the Spice Girls and Destiny’s Child and swooning over some Robbie Williams and Lenny Kravitz classics. You can expect some of South Africa’s best-known artists, including Brenda Fassie, Vicky Sampson and Mandoza, to remind you of our country’s most important transformation.

100 productions

The Barnyard Theatre Gateway team look back over the theatre’s history.

“This is an incredible milestone and I am so very proud. There has been so much water under the bridge, with so many highs and lows, but it has been an incredible journey. If I look at where our shows started, I cannot believe how far we have come in over 14 years as we continue to raise the bar in order to provide world-class entertainment,” says theatre owner Debbie Davidson.

With this year having a line-up to boast about, 90s Mania is the perfect show to celebrate the 100th main-scale production. Call 031-566-3045.
