'Tintin' sketch expected to sell for huge sum
Tintin creator Hergé's final major creation will be auctioned in Belgium next month and is expected to sell for a huge sum.
The 2m-long sketch formed the basis of a mural in the Brussels metro station of Stockel and features many of the most beloved characters from the series of comic strips featuring the intrepid Belgian journalist.
It is the only copy of the sketch, which Hergé - real name Georges Remi - completed shortly before he died in 1983.
The work includes more than 100 characters from Tintin and Hergé's other strips.
The "exceptional piece", which will be auctioned this month by the Librairie Lhomme, an antique bookseller in the city of Liège, was used as the basis for the Stockel mural, which was finished in 1988 by Bob De Moor, Hergé Studio's artistic director.
