The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's new Instagram account has become the fastest account on the social media platform to reach one million followers.

They got the love in just five hours and 45 minutes, taking the title from Korean musician Kang Daniel, who picked up one million followers in 11 hours and 36 minutes in January.

Before Kang, Pope Francis was the record-holder. He gathered a million followers in 12 hours when he joined the platform in 2016.

The followers just keep pouring in for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, with their account sitting at more than three million at the time of publishing this article.

They've posted twice and, in their introductory message, said they wanted to share what is important to them and what drives them.

They shared a series of pictures of them at various events, highlighting the causes they support.
