Somizi's famous for his flamboyant fashion, but who are his style icons?

Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung were the talk of the town when they tied the knot in September. Now they've been named as the winners of the title of Most Stylish Couple at the SA Style Awards 2019.

As someone who continues to pop onto our radar, we asked Somizi what's on his cultural radar:

PLACE

I'm obsessed with Europe. I just got back from Italy about a month ago and I'm getting ready to go to France. We're doing Paris, the Champagne region and Monaco.

STYLE ICONS

Pharell Williams, Billy Porter and Nandi Madida. They really speak to my personality. They're thinking out of the box and not conforming. There are androgynous elements when it comes to the way they dress that I enjoy.

THEATRE

The last show I watched was Gregory Maqoma's Cion at the Mandela Theatre. I'm also working on a theatre musical production for next year, but the name is still a secret.

APP

Instagram and my tennis game app, Tennis Open 2019. I'm always on the road, either at the airport or in the back of a car, and this helps me to kill time. I use Instagram to check who's doing what, where and with whom, and it's a business platform as well.

MUSIC

I am playing Kanye West non-stop and my latest favourite singles are Ama Uber and Umlilo from DJ Zinhle.

TELEVISION

Everything that is reality. I'm enjoying Come Dine with Me, First Dinner Dates South Africa and Dimelo. Oh, and the Kardashians as well.
