Oscar winning director Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, Hunger, Shame) was a Turner Prize-winning video artist before he turned to movies. Occupied City, his epic four-hour documentary from last year, has more in common with his previous fine art life than it does with his dramatic film career, although in theme it shares many of the same concerns. Forewarned is fair warned, though — this is not an easy film to sit through, not only because of its length but also because of its subject and its carefully curated repetitive rhythm. ..
