Yesterday the Sunday Times Fashion Weekly team headed over to Hyde Park Corner for the first evening of South African Fashion Week (#SAFW), which saw Joburg’s most stylish people coming together to view SS’16 collections from leading local designers.

Here are our pick of highlights from the night:

BEST COLLECTION

Artfully printed fabrics, droopy silhouettes and strong shapes made Clive Rundle's show a standout. Featuring everything from ready-to-wear pieces to garments that were more theatrical, the collection included a clever mix of clashing prints and monochrometones with splashes of colour creeping in every now and then.

BEST ACCESSORISES

Lumin brought immense style to the runway with their white round-framed retro glasses, which complimented their whole collection of white and sheers. We're taking notes for the coming season.

BEST SOUNDTRACK

GreerKyle had us tapping our feet as models took to the ramp in relaxed earthy tones with Bhekumuzi Luthuli's Incwadi playing in the background.

BEST STREET STYLE

Off the runway, our gaze fell on two of our favourite fashion insiders. Yasmin Furmi (below left) looked stylish in an outfit that showcased the luxe athleisure trend, while Felipe Mazibuko’s (below right) mixed prints were most memorable.
