Fab hair in a flash: go-to styles for busy mornings
Trendy ways to style your hair when you've only got 5, 10 or 15 minutes to spare before jetting out the door
YOU'VE GOT 5 MINUTES
The keywords that should pop into your head are: quick, effortless, texture. Regardless of whether you slick your tresses into a ponytail or leave them loose, always try to create some texture or enhance your natural curl pattern.
GO-TO DO
The half-up do as seen at the Victoria Beckham Spring 2018 Ready-To-Wear show: slightly imperfect and wispy, hair is swept up into a half ponytail or sectioned off into a half-up do, with volumising texture worked into the ends.
GOOD TO HAVE ON HAND:
• Hannon Smoothing Silicone Serum, R160.
• Moroccanoil Texture Clay, R420.
• Clicks Essential Thin Elastics, R16.
YOU'VE GOT 10 MINUTES
Super-sleek hair in the morning seems almost impossible with so little time to play, but with five extra minutes to spare, dual-textured hair is every busy woman's dream. It works well on damp hair, partially blow-dried hair or crazy bed-head hair.
GO-TO DO
Demi lacquered waves as seen at the Prabal Gurung Spring 2018 Ready-to-Wear show: Tame hair by roughly blow-drying it all to the back. Apply gel onto the front half of the head and spread evenly. Allow gel to set. Scrunch a texturing mousse into the remaining two-thirds of hair and finger twist for texture.
GOOD TO HAVE ON HAND:
• ghd Air hairdryer, R1,899.
• Hannon Sculpting Hair Gel, R130.
• Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse, R595.
YOU'VE GOT 15 MINUTES
Time is on your side so you have the licence to get a little bit fancy. Elevate standard "busy-day" ponytails or buns by adding braids to the hair or creating a double-banded ponytail to give the illusion of complexity.
GO-TO DO
The new French as seen at Fenty x Puma by Rihanna Spring/Summer 2018 show. This is part sporty ponytail and part elegant French braid. Style the hair into a half-up do and secure with an elastic. Section off a small area of hair underneath the first ponytail and secure with elastic a few centimetres down. Continue repeating this until all hair is tied up. Fluff out the sections in-between the elastics to add volume.
GOOD TO HAVE ON HAND:
• ghd Final Shine Spray, R220.
• Design Essentials Natural Honey & Shea Edge Tamer, R180.
• Clicks Essential Thin Elastics, R16.
