South African designers banded together for a cause this season with a group fashion show in support of the Fashion Revolution movement at AFI Cape Town Fashion Week.
Designers showcased the growth of sustainable fashion in the country with their collections of environmentally and ethically produced clothing and accessories.
With the overarching theme, #africaintrend, the Fashion Revolution show included Leandi Mulder's intricate hand-woven and embroidered silhouettes with an eco-conscious mentality, and Africa Is Now Magazine's collaboration with Imprint and Crystal Birch, featuring menswear with striking brush stroke and brocade prints, making a statement about Africa's potential and burgeoning future.Fashion Revolution is a global movement whose central premise is to get people to ask themselves, #whomademyclothes, in order to promote sustainable and ethical fashion practices and celebrate fashion as a positive influence in the lives of not only the people who consume fashion, but also those who create it.With a presence in over 100 countries in the world, the ethos and goal of the revolution is simple, "a fashion industry that values people, the environment, creativity and profit in equal measure"...
