LADY GAGA

The woman who is a contender for fashion darling of the millennium is nominated for best actress for her role in A Star is Born. Given her love of old Hollywood glamour, we decided Iris Van Herpen Couture would be perfect for her – melding her love of theatricality with serious design.

RAMI MALEK

Malek, best actor favourite for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody, has a style repertoire Freddie Mercury himself would be proud off. We decided to pay homage to the late Queen star and outfit Rami in this Givenchy beaded suit.

REGINA KING

With an army of designers behind her King, nominated for best supporting actress for If Beale Street Could Talk, is fashion royalty. Her style is powerful, sculptural and undoubtedly feminine. We wanted to emphasise her softer side, while keeping these principles in mind, which is why this Giambattista Valli gown is the perfect fit.

YALITZA APARICIO

This year’s break-out star, nominated for best actress for Roma, has already established herself as a fashion force, so all eyes will be on her. What else to dress the belle of the ball in but this ice-blue Zuhair Murad Couture gown?

Nominated for best actress in The Wife, Close has a history of wearing impeccably tailored suits on the red carpet. We decided to not fix what’s not broken but rather up the ante and dress her in this Armani Privé silver suit. 

• The 91st Academy Awards are taking place on February 24 in Hollywood.
