Around the world, cannabis-infused food is coming in hot and locally chefs are conjuring ways to weave the wonder weed into their menus.

Last month, Blowfish in Blouberg became the first South African restaurant to present the CANNAfornia roll and poké bowl made with CBD oil.

CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive compound derived from the cannabis plant, with known health benefits.

Chef Jay Jay Chen's two new dishes are all about the dressing.

Over the cream cheese, prawn and salmon CANNAfornia roll, he drizzles a blend of CBD-infused Japanese mayo blended with strawberry pulp to give it a delicate sweetness.

The poké bowl is crammed with sticky rice, edamame beans, tart pickled ginger, salmon, cucumber ribbons and fresh strawberry cubes, and finished with sweet chilli and CBD-laced caviar mayo.

Sushi à la CBD won't give you a high but it's a feel-good palate pleaser that will have you going for seconds.
