Documentary explores how the traditions of different cultures affects their health, compared to contemporary fitness fads

What if a modern-day gym bunny had to survive in an old-world environment? It is a question about evolution that exercise enthusiasts might ask around the braai - but British comedians Nish Kumar and Joel Dommett actually tested it out.
In a new documentary, Tribal Bootcamp, the fitness fundi, Dommett, pits himself against Shaolin monks, Maasai warriors, the Xavante tribe in the Brazilian rainforest and Mongolian nomads, while Kumar documents their culture and food traditions.
Running marathons across rugged terrain in sandals, wrestling, kick-boxing and 24-hour livestock protection were amongst the challenges. The series aims to highlight people and cultures - but also how their traditions affect their health, compared to contemporary fitness fads...
