Q. My partner is not well-endowed. This doesn't bother me as much as it bothers him. He wants to get us a toy wand. How do we go about choosing the best one?
A. There is a huge variety of styles available, some ideal for couple play and others for self-play. Always start simple if you're new to vibrating toys as it can be overwhelming.
A vaginal vibrator can be used for stimulation externally on the vulva or for penetration. It is versatile and can also be used with a compatible lubricant as part of a sensual massage.
Clitoral vibrators are usually smaller and can be used with your partner or alone for self-pleasure. These are for external use and offer different vibration options for your clitoris.
A dual-action vibrator has a shaft for penetration and a clitoral vibrator for external sensation. These dual vibrators are often referred to as rabbit ears, which can be operated independently from the main wand. There are also toys that are designed to stimulate the G-spot. The toy is usually angled to target the nerve-rich area inside the vagina. A curved wand can also be used to achieve this stimulation.
A C-ring is designed for couples' pleasure. It offers a snug fit on the shaft and good sensation with a small vibrator that targets the vulva and leads to clitoral stimulation.
There are toys in different price ranges and some may be more durable than others. It is advisable to also buy compatible cleansing materials to ensure hygiene and optimise comfort. Keep in mind the price, features, style and material of the toy you choose.
