This London-based designer's passion for the Art Deco movement is beautifully reflected in his limited-edition collection for The Rug Company

Describe your design style in three words.
Classical, balanced and beautiful.
Where do you come up with your ideas?
From a huge range of sources - museum collections, theatre productions, my collection of antiques, antiquarian books and ephemera, and, of course, from talking and being part of the world of design.
I recently returned from the Venice Biennale and am fizzing with ideas for materials, rug designs and furniture creations.
How did your collaboration with The Rug Company begin?
I've been lucky to have worked with Christopher Sharp and Sam Turner for at least 17 years. Over this time, I have designed many bespoke rugs so creating a collection was a natural progression. It was interesting to decide which elements of my own work to explore and I had to keep in mind what The Rug Company already have in their collection.
Deco architecture is a passion of mine and it proved the perfect inspiration for my Empire and Deco Border rugs. Both rugs are a combination of the finest hand-knitted Tibetan wool and silk motives, with a muted silver and bronze sheen...
