Book shopping just got swankier

Assouline Books, publishers of beautiful, high-end books on everything from art to travel, sets up shop in Johannesburg

For Prosper and Martine Assouline of Assouline Books, books offer the perfect antidote to a fast-paced world.
"The digital world is fast and ephemeral. We need some tangible things to balance it, and books do this job in the most inspiring and wise way," says Prosper.
The couple consider their imprint "the first luxury brand on culture" and, for them, the buying experience is just as important as ownership of their books.
They are always on the lookout for novel ways to present their wares. From Assouline Corners in top boutiques around the world to a dedicated Maison Assouline flagship store in London, they take book buying to new heights.
"Assouline must be present in the best spots of most important cities in the world," says Prosper and, luckily for us, they have chosen Johannesburg as their next retail destination.
Exclusive Books Hyde Park was the obvious partner for Assouline and this month will see the launch of an Assouline Corner at the store...
