You spend a third of your life sleeping so you should invest in a good bed. Do you agree?
Absolutely. Many people wake up feeling tired, even after eight hours of sleep or more. Most of them never link their fatigue, aches and pains, pins and needles or night sweating to the quality of their mattress. When the body relaxes during sleep, it has a tremendous natural capacity to repair itself. A comfortable bed is the first step towards wellness. What are some of the factors to consider when choosing a bed?
Choose a bed that is right for your size, height, weight and shape. Test various beds to find the one that is most comfortable for your body.
Also, you should always choose the biggest bed possible for your room, as more space will enable you to move freely.
There are so many different options - memory foam, traditional mattress, latex - how do you know which is right for you?
We always suggest you research the options and then try them for yourself.
That said, natural, chemical-free fibres are the best. Many mattresses are made using chemicals in the production process, and when we breathe in the gases given off, they can enter our bloodstream.
If your partner is a different height and weight to you, do you need to factor that in?
Two people sharing a bed often have different requirements. A person weighing 80-120kg needs completely different support to a person who weighs 50-60kg. Elite beds, which we stock at The Hall Collection, has a his & hers option - one mattress that is made with individual spring tensions and support so that both parties enjoy a perfect night's sleep.
Is it true that you should regularly turn your mattress, and why?
It depends on the mattress construction and type. That said, it is advisable to "air" your mattress and have it sanitised regularly.Does the linen you use affect your sleep?
We are affected by the feeling of fabrics against our skin. Natural cottons and linens breathe and regulate our body temperature and can go a long way to ensuring deep sleep...
