22 October 2017 - 00:00 By Roberta Thatcher

2017 marks a milestone for husband-and-wife team Adriaan Hugo and Katy Taplin as they celebrate a decade of running their much-loved design studio, Dokter and Misses.
Over the past 10 years, the pair has released a wide range of products that are instantly recognisable, thanks to their boldly graphic, original style.
A key player on the South African design scene, Dokter and Misses has won multiple awards, and their furniture and products have exhibited extensively both in South Africa and abroad.
Here's to many more years of design innovation to come!QUICK Q&A WITH ADRIAAN & KATY
A movie you could watch over and over again?
Adriaan: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly; those Spaghetti Western scenes paired with a beautiful soundtrack are the best.
Katy: Pulp Fiction, for the soundtrack.
What are you listening to right now?
Katy: I'm listening to Zoo Lake. I'm also really into podcasts these days. Some of my favourites are Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History, Criminal and The Nod.
Adriaan: I'm enjoying Grails, Lower Dens, Felix Laband, Hookworms (Adriaan).Your favourite decor piece?
Adriaan: Gregor Jenkin's fireplace. His pared-down approach is what makes it great.
Katy: The Kisumu unit by Tonic is super-luxury.
Your favourite designer?
Adriaan: Konstantin Grcic; I have started really looking up to designers who can create visual poetry using industrial processes.
Katy: I enjoy the "quietness" and sculptural nature of Faye Toogood's work. She really gets it.
Your favourite local artist?
Adriaan: I think Cameron Platter's work is next-level amazing. His work and general outlook make me smile.
A hobby you're currently into?
Adriaan: Playing music; creating something that only exists in the moment is a real respite from what I do every day.
Katy: Sleeping. I dream hard...
