If you're one of the many who linger after museum visits to explore the delights of the in-house store, you'll be thrilled to know that South Africa is set to have its very own museum store.
Cape Town's recently opened Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is in the process of opening the Zeitz MOCAA shop, whose shelves will be stocked with designer products for all ages and pockets.
Platform, the creative team behind 100% Design South Africa, have been appointed to oversee the design and development of the store, for which directors Laurence Brick and Cathy O'Clery will work in tandem with the curators of the museum.
"The inspiration people will get visiting the world-class galleries within Zeitz MOCAA, seeing the phenomenal art born of this continent, in such an iconic building, will generate a real desire to take away something of meaning," says Brick.
O'Clery adds that the store will be packed with art-inspired souvenirs and keepsakes that will be a fabulous memento of the shopper's visit to the museum. "These will include everything from contemporary stationery, T-shirts, posters and postcards to special commissions, collectables and limited editions in design and fashion."
Platform will be working with designers and artists to create a unique offering for visitors, art lovers and locals alike - "the wealth of inspiration from the building and the collections is just breathtaking", says O'Clery.
