Vegas's famous neon cowgirl is taking a vacation

Even for those who’ve never been there, she is a familiar face on the Vegas Strip.
For almost 40 years, the neon cowgirl known as “Vegas Vickie” — with one leg aloft and a beckoning smile — has reclined in the frenetic skyline above Fremont Street.
She was officially taken down on Tuesday in preparation for the construction of a new casino-resort.
On the other side of the street, her hubby, neon cowboy "Vegas Vic", remains. Vic and Vickie were "married" in a ceremony in 1994.
The high-kicking cowgirl was created in 1980 to draw attention to an adult entertainment club called Glitter Gulch. It shut down last year. She was originally named "Sassy Sally," after the casino that first occupied the spot...
