How often do you travel?
I travel frequently. I tend to go on shorter trips for work and I try to do an international holiday trip at least once a year.
Describe your first holiday you remember as a child
Our entire family - extended included - would go away every Boxing Day to the Cape Peninsula. There were so many of us that we'd have to hire a bus. I remember having a lot of fun.
And your first trip abroad?
Two months after graduating from university I went to Mallorca, Spain, for six months. It was a life-changing experience.
What is the most difficult, remote or adventurous destination you've ever been to?
All my holidays have been pretty chilled, but I'd say I did have a few social adventures in Mallorca.
What is the best way to travel once you are abroad?Using the public transport system in cities like London, in fact, in Europe as a whole, is pretty easy. So I'd always recommend that.
What is your favourite city here or abroad?
Here: Cape Town. Abroad: Barcelona.
Do you prefer roughing it or luxury when travelling? Describe the best experience you've had of whatever you choose.
I think it depends on the city you travel to. Sometimes an urban city experience is great, and sometimes a luxury one that is more for relaxation is just as amazing. I did enjoy the Westin in Paris. What has been your worst travel experience?
Coming home from London in 2011 I got stuck in traffic and decided to walk to the Tube only to have the wheels of my bag break, which set me back time-wise and led to me missing my flight.
Oddest thing you've experienced while travelling?
Casually bumping into mates from Cape Town on the streets of Amsterdam.
What is your best piece of travel advice?
Make sure that your travel companion is on the same page when it comes to travelling and how you travel. Teamwork is key...
