A buffalo is one of the largest animals in southern Africa and renowned for it's bad temper.
This is perhaps the reason five lions were needed to take down this buffalo in the Kruger National Park.
Jaun van Loggerenberg captured this incredible sighting near the Lower Sabie rest camp in the south of the park.
"As soon as the lioness saw the buffalo the chase was on. The buffalo fought all the way 'til the end. I have never witnessed such determination to stay alive. It was quite tough to watch!" Van Loggerenberg told the Kruger National Park YouTube channel.
As more lions arrived to reap the rewards of the hunt, the buffalo is still alive, fighting against the inevitable end of its life.
