Motshekga ‘devastated’ by schools burnt in Limpopo
Minister for Basic Education Angie Motshekga kicked at the ashes of the burnt book inside a classroom in Doli Village‚ Mashau‚ in disbelief.
She was visiting the Vhembe district in the northern part of Limpopo where more that 20 schools have been burnt in the past week.
The destruction of schools began on Sunday after Vuwani residents in the Vhembe district met to discuss a high court ruling that dismissed their opposition to the Municipal Demarcation Board’s 2014 decision to incorporate them into the Malamulele Municipality.
Motshekga also visited Vhafamadi Primary School and Mphagane Junior Primary School in Mashau to access the damage there.
When asked how she felt about the situation‚ Motshekga said: "It's very devastating and a big set-back."
