DJ gets new kidney and a second go at life

Mosa Mphore was 23 when he received a kidney transplant. He was one of the lucky patients who could get on life-saving dialysis at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto while he waited for a donor.
The father of two will never forget January 5 2014, when he got a call from the hospital saying it was ready to do a transplant.
At first his new kidney was inactive and doctors prepared him for the worst: they might have to take it out. Then the kidney woke up and he started urinating again, the first sign of a functional kidney.
"I want people to take care of themselves and to become organ donors," said the former Jozi FM DJ, who has seized his second chance at life. He was one of the lucky ones...
