Ryk is building his own Olympic pool

Swimming heart-throb Ryk Neethling has had enough. After 20 years of travelling the world in a Speedo, four Olympic Games, a world record and countless chlorine miles, he is finally building his own pool.
The former golden boy of water sports is designing an Olympic-length (50m), one-of-a-kind showpiece pool in the Cape winelands for the upmarket Val de Vie Estate, where he is a director, shareholder and homeowner. Neethling believes it will be the best pool in the country - a South African debut for an Italian company.
And just in case anyone would rather swim indoors, he's building a smaller pool next door.
The estate's existing 25m pool, where he still swims a kilometre a few evenings a week, is too deep for its intended purposes - swimming lessons, water aerobics and rehab - Neethling told the Sunday Times during a site visit on Thursday. "We wanted something that will be used a lot by all the residents."..
