ANC angry over Trollip's handling of Bobani ouster

Nelson Mandela Bay's DA mayor, Athol Trollip, is under fire for sending party leader Mmusi Maimane the report he used to justify the removal of his deputy, Mongameli Bobani, before the city council had seen it.
Councillors are asking why the draft PwC report that was used as a basis to unseat Bobani, a member of the United Democratic Movement, landed in Maimane's hands before it was presented to the council.
Trollip, in a letter to municipal manager Johann Mettler, acknowledged sharing the report with Maimane. His chief of staff, Kristoff Adelbert, said a draft version of the report was shared "confidentially" with the DA national leadership.
The Sunday Times has seen correspondence between ANC councillor Rory Riordan and Mettler in which Riordan demanded an explanation.
"Were these reports released to Mr Maimane with your permission, and, if yes, can we be provided with the paper trail in this regard?
"Why were these documents released before Council has had sight thereof? In your opinion, was the release of these documents to Mr Maimane legal?" Riordan asked.
In his responses, Mettler said he never gave permission for the report to be shown to Maimane.
"I have given no authority in this regard. Reports were not formally released."..
