Police are looking for two Chinese nationals who allegedly helped the Gupta family to siphon millions of rands from South Africa to foreign bank accounts, including in Hong Kong.
The Sunday Times was informed that the pair are Cao Xingzhi, a former president of the Chinese Business Council in South Africa and president of the South Africa-China People's Friendship Association, and his business associate, Soo Young Jean (Zhu Yiyuan).
According to sources Cao has hosted Jacob Zuma and his wives at Chinese New Year celebrations in Gauteng since 2013.
There are claims that Zuma was to address a Chinese New Year celebration on Friday at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park but his appearance there was cancelled.
According to one source with knowledge of Cao's dealings, donations were made to the Jacob Zuma Foundation.
