Mampara of the week: Mduduzi Manana

13 August 2017 - 00:00 By Hogarth

Few of us ordinary citizens had heard of our deputy minister of higher education before this week.
Then Mduduzi Manana emerged from the sewage to beat up women for slandering his character. In what universe does any male think this is acceptable behaviour? Oh right, in a land where the Mananas of the world are protected by their political masters.
A hot contender for induction into the hall of mamparadom must be women's league boss Bathabile Dlamini, who said she would not call for Manana's sacking as there were worse women-abusers in the government.
Days after the brutal attack President Jacob Zuma said he was still considering Manana's future. How long does it take to say, "Get out, you're fired.
I hereby flush you down the toilet to the place where you belong"?..
