Mampara of the week: Malusi Gigaba
AN APOLOGY FROM AN APOLOGIST?
The problem with social media is that it's unfiltered and unregulated.
Allegations are sometimes annoying and often unsubstantiated. Few people have time to get worked up about them. Home affairs minister Malusi Gigaba, however, does. He has instructed lawyers to summons radio host Redi Tlhabi, demanding an apology after she claimed he enacted absurd regulations to combat child trafficking after his daughter was taken by a cousin of his former wife without permission.
In his mampara-worthy tirade in response, he labelled Tlhabi an apologist for racists and threatened her with hellfire.
Whether Tlhabi was right to drag his daughter into the matter is debatable, but as a smart observer remarked, citizens have the right to annoy their public representatives...
