Let compassion, not conspiracies, be our watchword

Right on cue, our Covid-19 second wave is making itself felt. It's regional at the moment - the Eastern Cape, with its glorious beaches and warm sea waters, is seeing a worrying rise in cases. Along the Garden Route in the Western Cape, private hospitals are being "overwhelmed". And the holidays haven't even started yet.

We must obviously be careful. My wife and I plan to go deep into the Eastern Cape, what I am supposed these days to call the "former Transkei" but which will always just be Transkei to me and about 5-million other people...
