It came as no surprise that after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the decision to place the country on lockdown level 3, which entails closing beaches, banning large gatherings and prohibiting the sale of alcohol, this Mampara began his usual whinge session.
The dramatic surge in Covid-19 infections and deaths requires the imposition of these tough measures if we are to preserve lives and emerge out of this Covid hell. Saving lives and livelihoods is a delicate balancing act that should be left to serious leaders, not loudhailers like Steenhuisen.
