Kudos to Jeremy Brockie, the Kiwi who chose to stay sweet

17 September 2017 - 01:26 By BARENG-BATHO KORTJAAS

He has his heart set on going, but he stayed put.
Jeremy Brockie's desire to switch sides from SuperSport United to Mamelodi Sundowns was sternly dismissed by his boss, Stan Matthews.
Every transfer window the Brazilians come barking down the door of their cross-town neighbours. The object of their desire is the man coach Pitso Mosimane affectionately refers to as The Sniper.
Sniper because the New Zealander doesn't need a second invitation at the sniff of goal. His commitment to the cause was brought to bear by his three goals which have catapulted United into the MTN8 final (1-0 against Kaizer Chiefs and a brace against Maritzburg United).
Time will tell if he will complete the job in the final against Cape Town City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on October 14.
Eric Tinkler has been mature about the sticky situation.
A weaker coach could have benched Brockie, or worse, banished him to the stands or Multichoice Diski Challenge to teach him some twisted lesson in obedience.
