An unknown woman has emerged as the reason for a man allegedly shooting and killing his brother outside a popular Johannesburg nightclub, Tiger Tiger, early yesterday morning.

Police Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said yesterday that a man had taken two young women to the club on Saturday night. When he realised that one of them was missing, he went in search of her. He found her outside being spoken to by two brothers in a black BMW.

Muthan said an argument ensued and the man was stabbed in the right hand. He ran into the Fourways Mall and asked two club bouncers and a mall security guard to help him.

The brothers then allegedly started shooting, injuring the bouncers and the guard. It appears that one of them shot his 25-year-old brother, who died in hospital.

Another police officer, Captain Lydia Mtila-Dikolomela, suggested that the deceased was trying to stop the suspect - who is now being sought by the police - from shooting.

After the incident the nightclub wrote on its Facebook page that its head of security, Charles Ramazani, had been shot in the stomach and was being treated in the intensive care of a nearby hospital. The club said that the other member of its security staff had been shot in the ankle, and that the shopping centre's security guard had been shot in the arm.

The entry continues: "A witness said that members from this group were seen picking up gun casings before leaving. Security [guards] from the club do not carry firearms and no shots were returned .

"We will cooperate fully with the police and do everything we can to ensure that we bring these people to justice".

Muthan said one bouncer had been discharged and that the other was still in hospital in a stable condition.
