Axe attack victim has embraced 'new' life

Marli van Breda is "loving life" and is back in the classroom. The 16-year-old miraculously survived after an axe attack at her family's home in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, earlier this year.Her father, Martin, mother Teresa and older brother Rudi were killed. But her younger brother, Henri, survived.Marli has not seen Henri since the incident.The pretty blonde is in Grade 11 at the upmarket Somerset College in Somerset West.After months of rehabilitation, she returned to school at the end of last month and has started with a "special catch-up programme".Though the school would not comment, family spokesman Ben Rootman said Marli was "grateful" that she could get on with life."The school has been very supportive and is treating her as an ordinary learner," said Rootman.Her health is "good" and her Instagram bio reads: "Loving all of life."Marli suffers from retrograde amnesia after she sustained traumatic head injuries during the attack.Sources say police are hoping she will recover sufficiently to give them a statement.Western Cape police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut said there were no "new developments to share" on the case.No arrests have been made in connection with the murders, which shocked the country...
