Storm over Zuma's penis again

The government has condemned a new cartoon being shown at an exhibition in Johannesburg that is said to depict President Jacob Zuma's penis. R is for Respect, by Anton Kannemeyer, shows a giant black penis and scrotum hovering over a group of black demonstrators who are carrying a banner that demands: "Respect for the president's penis now!"Another cartoon, P is for Pretoria, quotes Zuma's debated understanding of human rights.Kannemeyer told the UK's The Guardian newspaper that he drew the cartoon in response to the protests about Brett Murray's The Spear,and as a condemnation of censorship.Responding to the cartoon, Deputy Minister in The Presidency Buti Manamela said: "We don't have time for bigotry and what is clearly racism projected as art."Kannemeyer's exhibition opened on Thursday at the Stevenson Gallery.It will run until November 13...
