Thikho Events founder Richard Ramudzuli has broken his silence on allegations that his company, with veteran Afrosoul artist Ringo Madlingozi, owes renowned guitarist Selaelo Selota R90,000.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Richard denied the claims, providing context about their past management relationship with Ringo and clarifying the status of Selaelo’s payment.
“We started managing Ringo from October 2024 until the mutual termination of our agreement in May 2025,” said Richard.
“The handover to his new management, who happen to be family members and also accountants, was facilitated by his relatives. All books regarding Ringo’s affairs were opened, explained and accepted by them.”
Addressing Selaelo’s payment, Richard said: “As Ringo’s management at the time, the money received from bookings minus our management fee was used to run Ringo’s day-to-day affairs, which included [Selaelo’s] payment. We’ve explained this to [Selaelo] several times, personally and through our legal representatives.”
Richard said a performance contract had been signed between Selaelo and Ringo and the booking in question was facilitated directly by Ringo.
“[Selaelo] had a signed performance contract with Ringo. Ringo was supposed to perform at [Selaelo’s] event, but later refused and claimed he didn’t know anything about the booking. Strangely, Ringo facilitated this booking himself and directed [Selaelo] to us to process it.”
On the issue of Selaelo’s reported involvement in Ringo’s music production, Richard added: “We were never involved in his album recording. That is Sony [Music’s] responsibility.”
Selaelo, known for his guitar work and longstanding presence in the South African music scene, has yet to issue a follow-up statement.
