While Metro FM has its eyes set on launching the 2026 Music Awards, the station is turning up the volume across the country with the much-anticipated Metro FM Heatwave. And this year, it’s bigger and bolder than ever.

The iconic summer party series has expanded to five provinces, promising electrifying entertainment, local flair and a few surprises along the way. From Emalahleni to Gauteng, fans can look forward to an unforgettable celebration led by top-tier local promoters.

The confirmed Heatwave dates and locations are:

  • Emalahleni – November 22 with O12 Lifestyle;
  • Durban – November 29 with Executives Concerts;
  • Limpopo (Polokwane) – December 6 with Lekompo Balcon Mix;
  • East London – December 16 with Legends Gaming Promotions; and
  • Gauteng – December 20 with Exclusive White Lifestyle.

TshisaLIVE caught up with Metro FM marketing manager Melba Thompson, who shared what fans can expect from this year’s rollout.

“The 2026 series of the Metro FM Heatwave brings with it more excitement and surprises for our listeners,” she said. “In the spirit of always improving and elevating the experience, the station has introduced a collaboration with Lekompo Balcony Mix for the Polokwane leg. With Lekompo’s growth as a genre and Metro FM’s positioning as a cultural icon, it was only fitting to partner with such a movement.”

The 2025 campaign has already attracted major sponsors, with announcements expected in the coming week.

“Metro FM has a national footprint, so it makes sense to host the Heatwave across five provinces. It’s a direct response to the demand for a truly authentic Metro FM experience in more corners of the country especially to kick off the festive season.”

Asked how the host provinces were selected, Melba explained that it aligns with the station’s broader strategic goals.

“We aim to maintain a strong presence in major metros while identifying key growth provinces. For each leg, Metro FM partners with reputable local event organisers to deliver top-tier productions.”

With artist line-ups confirmed and logistics well under way, the station is confident in delivering a stellar Heatwave campaign that will set the tone for summer.
