South African house producer Black Coffee has been nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award (EMA).

The nominees for the 2011 MTV EMAs were announced on Monday, with the DJ - real name Nathi Maphumulo - nominated in the Africa/ India/ Middle East category.

The SAMA winner, whose latest album has spawned hits such as Juju and Superman, is up against Abdelfattah Grini, Cabo Snoop, Fally Ipupa, Wizkid and Scribe.

This is part of a new category - World Wide Act - which, according to the network, " celebrates diversity and the breadth of all the music that MTV has to offer by nominating incredible artists from all corners of the world."

There are five regions under World Wide Act - Africa/India/Middle East, Asia Pacific, North America, Latin America and Europe. The nominee from each region who receives the most votes will then be nominated for the World Wide Act award.
