NEWCOMERS dominated the 2011 MetroFM Music Awards held in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, last night.

The night belonged to SA's latest music sensation Zahara and rapper AKA.

Zahara - real name Bulelwa Mkutukana - took home the prestigious song of the year award for her hit single Loliwe. Her chart-topping debut album, also titled Loliwe, has sold more than 200000 copies. She also won the best female album and her Lengoma scooped hit single of the year.

AKA - real name Kiernan Forbes - won the best produced album for his debut Altar Ego , the best hip-hop and best newcomer awards .

Durban' s Big Nuz won the best kwaito and best group awards for their album Pound for Pound . Kwaito legend Spikiri won the best male album award for The King Don Father 2.5 .
