Bond box-office bonanza breaks records in Britain
Skyfall has proved so popular in Britain since its release that it broke the record for the most lucrative film in the Bond saga (22 films total) launched in 1962, netting £57 million (€71.4 million).
Even more impressive, the feat was achieved in just 12 days, from October 26 to November 7.
Skyfall now reigns unchallenged at the top of the pack among other 007 flicks, and the Sam Mendes-directed movie also entered the top 10 of the most grossing films in the UK, behind The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (£57.6 million, or €72.2 million).
As icing on the cake (or an olive in the martini), the movie also ranks first among the most lucrative films of 2012 in the country. With £57 million already in the bank, it rose above The Dark Knight Rises (£55.8 million).
Skyfall also broke the records for best launch ever (first week) and best Saturday ever in the UK.
